Pauline Persichilli

Pauline draws inspiration from the scope of grace and power found in nature, from babbling brooks to thundering waterfalls; The beauty of a well-tended garden; The roar of the ocean during a storm.

Pauline first witnessed belly dancing as a young teen, and fell in love with the art form. She attended Tribal Fest in her home town of Sebastopol, and was inspired by the tribal fusion style of belly dance showcased there. At sixteen, Pauline became a member of the dance troupe Jewels of Beladi and performed at showcases around Sonoma County, California. She soon met her main teacher, TerriAnne Gutierrez, and started studying Classical Egyptian and Turkish styles, as well as Indian Classical Kathak. At eighteen, she joined TerriAnne’s troupe Joweh and began dancing professionally around California at showcases, fairs, parties and weddings. Around the same time, Pauline started performing regularly with North Bay Cabaret, a variety show featuring eclectic acts including burlesque, side show, and comedy. It was here Pauline had the freedom to expand her avant-garde style of fusion belly dance.

For Pauline, dance has been a constant in life. An outlet to express feelings of joy and pain alike. Her greatest hope and goal is to inspire others to move in a way that feels good, and to practice that which sets their soul ablaze.
